Genesis

Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are the patriarchs of Israel. Isaac Lived 180 years, Holy Bible narrates some of his life incidents in 15 chapters of the Bible. The meaning of Isaac is “ Laughter”.Would like to share some of the lessons I have learned from his life:

1). Isaac was a godly man.

“And Isaac went out to meditate in the field in the evening” Genesis 24:63

Isaac loved God and his life reveals his godliness on several occasions. I think he grew in his relationship with God. Meditating on God’s word is an essential factor for building a strong relationship with God.

2). Isaac was an industrious man.

Like Abraha’s time, there was a famine in the land and Isaac moved to Gerar like Abraham during that famine despite God’s warning. But God was merciful to him even in his disobedience. Thank God for His grace. Isaac was a wealthy man when he moved to Gerar

Abraham

Genesis 25:5 And Abraham gave all that he had to Isaac.

Genesis 25 :6 But Abraham gave gifts to the sons of the concubines which Abraham had; and while he was still living he sent them eastward, away from Isaac his son, to the country of the east.

Abraham left all his wealth with Isaac and he was a prosperous man yet he was a hardworking man.

Genesis 26: 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him.

 The Philistines were jealous of Isaac because they saw him prospering and were scared of him and asked him to leave their land.

3). Isaac was a Peacemaker – Genesis 26:12-22.

The Philistines often provoked Isaac’s men at Gerar, They treated them unfairly. After Isaac dug out a well, they move in and claimed it as their own. Instead of pridefully fighting or demanding that his rights be satisfied, Isaac wisely saw a simpler and more peaceful course. That is, he just moved away and dug out another well. This happened two times and both times he let it go. This demonstrates a lot of wisdom and humility.
