2 Samuel
2 Samuel Chapter 10. Mentions the incident of King Hanun. Hanun became the king of the ammonites when his father Nahash died. When Nahash was the king of ammonites he helped King Da
vid several times. When King David heard that Nahash passed away he sent his servants to comfort Hanun.
But some of the ammonites misunderstood King David and told Hanan. “
“Do you think that David really honors your father because he has sent comforters to you? Has David not rather sent his servants to you to search the city, to spy it out, and to overthrow it?”
Therefore Hanun took David’s servants, shaved off half of their beards, cut off their garments in the middle, at their buttocks, and sent them away.
With this incident, the ammonites became repulsive to David and Hanun recognized it. He prepared to go for a battle with the Israelites. Since he was not having a strong army he hired an army from the Amorites and other neighboring countries. But David won this war. After this war Amorites were afraid to help the Ammonites anymore.
