Bathsheba

Bathsheba means “daughter of the oath” in Hebrew

King David’s life story is very adventurous, His childhood as a valiant shepherd, his Encounter with the Philistine Goliath, His entry to the palace and acceptance among the people, His anointing, military power, his resilience against Saul’s attacks, etc are very interesting incidents.

Before he committed adultery with Bathsheba things were very smooth in his life but after he committed adultery with Bathsheba many issues started to begin. His life gets into more trouble, then the incidents are a bit more complex in his life and kingdom.

God sent the prophet Nathan to confront King David after he commits adultery and killed Uriah Bathsheba’s husband. David repents and Psalm 51 was composed by David in that context.

Later God blessed David and Bathsheba with a son, his name was Solomon. He became the successor of David. God bestowed him with Wisdom.

When Matthew records the Gospel according to Matthew he mentions Bathsheba’s name in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.

God has been showing His mercy and grace to Bathsheba, not considering their past. This is the forgiveness and grace from God.
