Joel – A call for repentance

“Yahweh is God” is the meaning of the name Joel. Unlike other minor prophets, we don’t find many personal details on Joel. There are 13 people named Joel in the Bible. The Book of Joel is written around BC post-exile. His mission is to call for the repentance of the people. I would like to share a few lessons learned from the book of Joel.

  1. Disasters should turn people to God regardless of their source.
  2. Look for God in your circumstances.
  3. Joel Proves that God can even use bugs to speak with his people.

God’s s great army that’s what it mentioned about the locust in the book of Joel. This locust invasion mentioned in this book has to be taken literally.

It never happened in their father’s time or forefathers’ time

they should remember to tell their generation

This locust invasion did a huge damage to their country and

it was a successive invasion.

It destroyed their crops, no fruit was left in any trees, no vine, fig, or apple. Joy was cut off from people even though they were not having grains, and livestock was badly affected by this. It was a state if an emergency. God wanted more than just an outward show of repentance, he wants a changed heart.

This plague was sent by God to get their attention.

Joel Published fasting for the entire nation, weep repent .Also God promised the restoration of the years they have lost through the locust invasion.
