Parable of the sower…

Luke 8:5-15

In this Parable Jesus compares the human heart to different types of soil.

1. Wayside – Seed Trampled down – People walked heavily on the seed and birds ate the seeds. They hear the word; Satan takes away the seed from their heart so that they may not believe and be saved.

2. Rock – Seed sprang up very immediately and withered away because of moisture. They hear the word with joy since there is no root, they believe for a while and when temptation comes they fall away.

3. Thorns –thorns grew up with the seed and choked the plant. They hear the word, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches, and pleasures and they do not mature.

4).Good soil – Grew up and yielded a crop a hundred times more than was sown.

They hear the word with a noble and good heart, they hear the word, retain (preserve, serve, maintain) it and by perseverance (keep trying and sticking with it) produce a crop.

Here is the question: How can my heart become a good soil? The answer: By accepting God’s word with a joyful heart and acceptance.
