Though the fig tree does not bud..

Habakkuk 3:17 -18

“Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.

 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to tread on the heights.”

 The book of Habakkuk starts with a prayer to God to end the suffering his nation is going through. God’s response to Habakkuk was beyond his expectation and the violence will not end according to Habakkuk’s calculation. Habakkuk sought an answer from God on this. He went into the temple of God and communed with God. Habakkuk had more understanding on God and his timing. This book ends with a beautiful song “though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes in the Vines…. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.”

Sometimes the situations in our life can go beyond our control and expectations. Sometimes situations may not become favourable to us. In such times let us have our assurance in the Lord because He is the sovereign and the omniscient One. All we have to do is to trust in HIM.
